About the Empire

Built by players, not press releases

CosmicFrostEmpire started in 2018 as a zine handed out at Melbourne arcade meetups. Today it's a 40,000-reader blog covering everything from Souls-like boss design to the local Bay Street indie scene.

We play every title to completion before we score it, log our hours publicly, and never take payment for a review. If it's on the site, we actually beat it.

The Standard

Every score earns its stars

Our review rubric weighs mechanics, accessibility, performance on real hardware, and value per hour. We publish frame-rate captures and load-time tests so you know exactly what you're buying.

Members shape the schedule too — the community votes each month on which backlog classics get the full retrospective treatment.

What the community says

"The completion-time logs alone saved me from three full-price flops this year. No other blog is this honest about padding."
Marcus D. — Carlton, VIC
"Their Any% route guide shaved four minutes off my Frostfall II PB. The frame windows are documented better than the wiki."
Priya S. — Brisbane, QLD
"I found my favourite indie of 2025 through their spotlight column months before it hit any storefront charts. Essential reading."
Jordan T. — Port Melbourne, VIC
